I’m going to open up with a thank you, and then I’ll explain. A big “THANK YOU” to everyone who has written an Amazon review on MIST FALCON! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and offer your support.
I decided to write something about book reviews on Amazon. I’ve always known that book reviews (or product reviews in general for that matter) on Amazon are great ways to leave feedback about books you liked or didn’t like and why. It’s also a great way to find books you might like or not like or to help others know about books they might or might not like.
What I didn’t know until recently, and what you might not know, is that costumer reviews are one of the ways Amazon uses to calculate its SEO (search engine optimization). This means that, among lots of other things reviews, or at least positive reviews, go into the half-scientific-half-magical algorithm that Amazon uses to determine how close to the top of the list a book appears.
Let’s say that you are looking for a new epic fantasy novel. Let’s also say that you have already gone through and read all of my “Books Off The Shelf” posts and mined the gems there in, and thus are at a loss for what book to buy. ;) You go to Amazon and type “Epic Fantasy Books” into the search bar. It pulls up a bunch of books that are in one way or another related to the epic fantasy genre. This list is not in order of bestselling, though sales numbers definitely play a role in that same magical algorithm. Instead, Amazon searches its network for keywords in product title, product description, and behind the scenes setup and then adds in things like sales rank and number of positive reviews.
This means we as readers have the ability to help influence which books end up closer to the top of the search list. Since most buyers don’t go more than the first half a dozen pages of products or so, this in turn means we can influence which books even get seen by buyers giving the chance at a sale.
With this realization, I’ve decided to take the two minutes and post reviews on more of the books I read. I enjoy sharing books with other people anyway; after all, I write a good number of reviews on this blog.
Also, and again, a big thanks to all of you who have reviewed MIST FALCON, and if you’ve read and enjoyed my book, I’d love to have you offer your thoughts to the reading community. You can just click on the link to the right and it will take you straight to the book on Amazon. Thanks in advance.

Blessings, and read with joy.
