For today’s post, I am continuing the new series that I’m calling Thoughts From the Authors. These posts are going to be some fun interviews with Fantasy and Science Fiction authors, along with some other author’s thrown in. I’ll do my best to introduce you to some writers you might enjoy, and together we can peer into the thoughts of an author.
Today I am visiting with the talented Ryan Lanz. Ryan is the author of UKNOWN SENDER, and most recently, THE IDEA FACTORY. I’m just starting to read THE IDEA FACTORY, and I’ll plan on doing a Books Off The Shelf Post when I’m done. So, stay tuned. Ryan also posts some absolutely stellar articles on writing tips, methods, and best practices for authors. It’s definitely worth checking out his wisdom and musings at RyanLanz.com And now, onto the interview.
What impressed me the most about the series is the level of detail and how he was able to skillfully foreshadow things millions (literally) of words down the line.
At first, I originally only had a list of 365 writing prompts in mind, but that quickly grew to 1,000. My goal was to make each one different than the last and represent as many genres as I could.
I’m considering doing other writing prompts books, perhaps focusing on each genre at a time. Thanks for having me on. It was a pleasure. The pleasure was mine. Thanks so much for your time, Ryan. I can honestly say that I’m excited to dive more fully into THE IDEA FACTORY. And, as we all know, a full length fantasy novel is right up my alley. Good luck with the editing process. I’m looking forward to reading it once it comes out. |
